Audrey Fang’s alleged killer arrives at court: ‘Shocked and distressed’ family watch on after flying into Spain from Singapore following brutal murder of ‘sweet’ and ‘always smiling’ tourist

THE alleged killer of Singaporean tourist Audrey Fang arrived at a court in Murcia today accused of stabbing the 39-year-old death.

Audrey’s brother and two other relatives also attended the hearing in Cieza to hear of the suspect’s fate.

The family’s lawyer, Manuel Martinez, is asking for the unnamed man, also from Singapore, to be sent to prison ahead of trial.

Speaking outside the court he said: “The family are obviously in shock. They received terrible news in a country far away from home. They need the most moral support.”

He added that the Guardia Civil are doing ‘a great job’ in handling the case, the details of which are being kept secret.

The family of Audrey arrived to the court with an interpreter at around 9.45am on Friday.

Audrey was knifed more than 30 times in a horrific attack after vanishing from her hotel in Alicante on April 9.

Her butchered body was found dumped 150km away in Murcia the next day – but she was only identified this week.

Neighbours in Singapore told TNP that Audrey was ‘polite, courteous and always smiling.’

Kenneth Kiong branded her ‘kind, personable and sociable person’, adding that it was ‘very disheartening’ to read of her death.

He said: “Who would want to hurt someone like her? I pray for closure for her dad and her brother.”

Another neighbour claimed Audrey lived with her father and brother in an apartment, after her mother died a few years ago.

On April 4, Audrey checked into a luxury hotel in Javea on the Costa Blanca.

She had travelled to Spain alone and was due to check out on April 10. It was not her first time travelling solo.

However on April 9, she left her hotel, leaving all her belongings and suitcases behind, and was never seen alive again.

Her family last spoke to her on that same day and she was spotted on CCTV walking out of the hotel at around 8.45pm.

Crime scene where body of Audrey Fang was discoverd in Murcia

She had been due to fly back to Singapore from Barcelona but did not make the journey to Catalunya.

On April 10, a man spotted a body while going to have breakfast at a restaurant next to the RM-422 Fortuna-Pinoso road, in Murcia – some 150km away from Audrey’s hotel.

However there was no identification on the victim and authorities struggled to identify the body.

On April 12, Audrey’s anxious brother waited for her at the airport in Singapore but she did not come off the flight.

It was then that her relatives filed a police report and also made contact with the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to Singapore’s Straits Times newspaper, a family friend said that Audrey had told some acquaintances that she was going to meet somebody she knew during her visit to Spain, but they were not aware of who it was.

A desperate search by police ensued for several days in and around Alicante.

On April 17, it was revealed that police believed the body found in Murcia belonged to Audrey.
