Guardia Civil officers shot by man barricaded in villa on Spain’s Costa Blanca

FOUR Guardia Civil officers were shot on Tuesday by a man who barricaded himself in an Alicante area villa.

The incident happened at around 7am in the El Moralet district when officers were taking part in anti-drugs operation.

The shooter, along with his son, has been arrested by the Guardia Civil.

No official details have been released about the operation or the state of the shot officers.

The Informacion newspaper has reported that none of them were seriously injured.

They were all taken to Alicante General Hospital with the worst case involving an officer who was shot in the arm.

A fifth officer suffered injuries after tripping over.

One neighbour said that ‘you could not believe what was going on as I heard a lot of shots’.

The area has been cordoned off by the Guardia Civil from San Vicente del Raspeig and the Alicante Policia Local.
