A HEADLESS body has been discovered by police in a British holiday hotspot in Spain.
The corpse, belonging to a man, was found by the Guardia Civil in Roquetas del Mar in Almeria this morning.
It came after panicked calls to emergency services at 5.45am, reporting a man ‘bleeding to death’ on Avenida Jose Amat Benavides, reports La Voz de Almeria.
The corpse was found in a huge pool of blood, but mystery surrounds the decapitation.
Sources from the Guardia Civil told Europa Press that the body did not show obvious signs of violence.
In fact, police are reportedly looking into the theory that the man may have decapitated himself.
However other sources, quoted by La Voz de Almeria, said the death could be related to a ‘settling of scores’ between rival criminal gangs.
The body has been removed by an expert forensic team ahead of an autopsy.
The investigation continues.
