SPAIN’S latest unwelcome visit from the British Isles may be its miserable weather.
It’s been a few weeks of highly successful weather for Andalucia, which both vitally replenished the region’s dwindling reservoirs and then teased with summer-like temperatures.
But a fresh round of rain storms are set to put a dampener on hopes of the beach season well and truly getting into gear.
The weather system is forecast to head south from the UK to the Iberian peninsula to pepper northern Spain this weekend.
It will also channel cold air towards the Balearic Islands, resulting in strong winds, showers, and chilly temperatures.
It will be joined by a fresh DANA moving in from the Gulf of Cadiz to threaten Andalucia with strong showers on Saturday – most notably in Badajoz, north of Córdoba, Seville and Huelva.
The Costa del Sol can expect to miss out on scorching weather, with mild temperatures in the teens forecast.
Temperatures elsewhere will generally be warm, with maximums surpassing 20-22C in many areas, except in the north where they will remain below 18C.
Daytime temperatures will feel particularly warm, ranging between 24 and 26C in the southern parts of Galicia, the Ebro Valley, central zone, Extremadura, the southern plateau, the Guadalquivir Valley, and the more elevated islands in the Canaries.
Thermometers could even reach near 28C in the valleys of the Guadiana and Guadalquivir.
Daytime temperatures on Sunday will slightly drop compared to Saturday, with highs around 22-24C in most areas, except in the north, along the Mediterranean coast, and in the Balearic Islands.
Temperatures are expected to surpass 25C in the south of Galicia, in the valleys of the Guadiana and Guadalquivir, and at points in the south of Gran Canaria.
